Garmin GPS and Accessories

Garmin was founded in 1989 by Gary Burrell and Min H. Kao who combined the first 3 letters of their names to form the name 'Garmin'. Their first foray into GPS was in the marine industry soon followed by handheld GPS units that were first used in the first Gulf War. Items related to cycling started showing up in the early 2000's with the first being the Garmin Foretrex. The Garmin Edge series saw the biggest leap in cycling related GPS and personal training units and have grown to become one of the most widely recognized cycling training units in the industry.

The long awaited Garmin Vector pedals were released in early 2014 with much anticipation surrounding them. This is Garmin's first shot at a power device and they wanted to get it right straight out the gate. This is one of the few power devices that allows you to monitor the power of both legs individually. Marketed as the easiest to move between bikes and one of the lightest options, this puts the Vector into the big leagues of the power device market.

The latest addition to the Edge range is the Garmin Edge 1000 GPS computer. With much improved connectivity and real time segment comparison features, the new Edge 1000 sees another leap towards the future of cycling. Compatible with ANT+, Heart Rate and Cadence and also has the functionality to display data from electronic shifting systems.

Garmin's first foray into the sports camera world the Garmin Virb has been very well received and is already rivaling the big sports camera brands. Capable of recording full HD 1080p video for 3 hours on a single charge. The Virb also comes built in with a Digital Image Stabiliser, which softens up the bumps so you can share a smoother video with your friends.

The Garmin Forerunner 220 Watch is one of the newest additions to the Forerunner and is a recent Editors Choice winner in "220 Triathlon Magazine". Just like a coach the Forerunner 220 provides the motivating feedback you need to guide your training.
