BUYERS GUIDE TO: SPORTIVE BIKES

Sportive bikes are designed to be fast and light while retaining a slightly more comfortable riding position to give the rider extra comfort for more miles in the saddle.

The Specialized Roubaix is an excellent example of this. Named after the Paris-Roubaix race which is famous for its un-even rough surfaces, the Roubaix was designed to 'give' and provide the rider with a more comfortable position upon the bike.

It is often difficult to tell the difference between sportive and race bikes from an un-trained eye.  Try sitting on and test-riding the bikes and the difference will be immediately noticeable.

Cyclo sportives have grown in popularity over the last few years and bike manufacturers have been quick to develop and adapt bikes to suit this kind of event. Bianchi offer the Infinito which is described as follows The geometry is unique, with a taller head tube for a relaxed riding position and a longer wheel base for improved stability." Similarly Scott describe the CR1 as "The CR1 offers the perfect balance of performance and comfort. Designed to absorb shock and vibration created by irregularities in the road, this concept results in a very smooth and stable ride, reducing rider fatigue and making any ride more enjoyable."

Sportive bikes are rapidly becoming some of our biggest sellers due to their wide market appeal and versatility - we strongly recommend considering this type of bike.
