Full suspension mountain bikes are by definition a mountain bike that has suspension both at the front and at the rear. Full suspension offers benefits for all aspects of mountain biking and certain situations are essential (such as alpine ski lift assisted riding). Full suspension, also hinders performance if the wrong purchase is made.

A specifically designed frame and an expensive shock unit are required in the production of a full suspension bike. This adds weight and additional cost over the normal hardtail mountain bike. Bear this in mind when deciding your budget and settling on a make and model of bike. Make sure you set aside extra budget to cater for it and don't substitute quality to afford the suspension - you'll only regret it later.

Full suspension bikes start at around £1200 such as our Cube XMS. Sometimes during sale periods there may be some bargains to be had for less. By spending more, you'll be getting more adjustable and efficient suspension with less weight - this is all a big plus. If you are looking for a faster cross country bike with the additional comfort of full suspension then consider the Specialized Epic. Looking for something with more travel? Why not take a look at the Cube Stereo or Scott Genius.
