The Flyer gets some small but significant tweaks for 2016, turning it into what we feel makes for the ideal singlespeed winter trainer.

Sharing exactly the same tube spec, geometry and fork as the Equilibrium, the 2016 Flyer is our lightweight, surefooted singlespeed roadbike that laughs in the face fo grotty weather

We've opted for the classic 'winter trainer' 42/17T combo, returning an open-road, cadence-friendly 65.2GI. And, because we're nice you'€™ll find options for either a fixed or freewheel setup straight out of the box.

It's shod with Maxxis Re-Fuse p*ncture protection rubber but should you find yourself in need of dropping out the rear wheel, the traditional forward-facing Campagnolo-style horizontal dropouts makes it a doddle, even with the mudguard fitted.

Last but by no means least, we even speeced up our own custom XL length, club run friendly Chromoplastic mudguards for unbeatable protection from the elements

A well thought through, lightweight, low-maintenance bike for plucky year-round riders looking for an affordable, durable, comfortable winter training companion.

Road.cc's Verdict:

"Well-considered singlespeed workhorse with a lovely frame and decent spec for the money. The Genesis Flyer is a great winter bike or no-nonsense commuter and Genesis have sensibly concentrated the spend on the excellent frame and fork, with unexceptional but solid wheels and finishing kit that'll last for ages. Overall it's fun to ride as a training bike and with mudguard and rack mounts it's versatile enough to carry a load too. For £600 it's a great addition to your stable and it'll get plenty of use."

You're reviewing: Genesis Flyer - 2016 Road Bike

At Genesis we love all sorts of bikes, so odds-on the bikes you love to ride are the ones we enjoy bringing to life. We aren’t the biggest brand or perhaps the coolest, we don’t spend the most on marketing and definitely haven’t been around the longest, we aren’t at the pointy end of the latest fad and don’t take ourselves too seriously either… but what we are serious about is delivering an ever-broader range full of only really good bikes.

We’re honest about what we make and where we make it, we’re proud to create bikes that work well and meet a need perfectly, we love bikes that are built properly and last like they’re meant to and we like our bikes to look good too.
