About Hargroves Cycles

History

Hargroves Cycles was established in 1981 by Peter Hargroves. The first shop was located in Millbrook, Southampton and at the time was named Raymond Peters Cycles. This shop is still on the original site and is one of our busiest shops. In 1985 Peter Hargroves bought the company outright and the name was changed to Hargroves Cycles.

Since then the Hargroves Cycles brand has grown to become the most recognised quality bike shop chain in the South of England. We now operate shops in Southampton, Winchester, Chichester, Fareham, Swindon. On the 28th April 2012 we opened a Super Store on edge of Southampton(Totton). This is our biggest store to date.

Race Team

Our Race Team also dates back as far as and if not beyond the formation of the first shop in 1981. Peter Hargroves was a successful road and cyclocross rider racing in the UK and on the continent from the 1970s onwards. Today Peter mainly takes a Directeur Sportif role looking after a highly successful Race Team of Elite Cyclists. In 2010 team member Dan Mclay achieved the highest possible accolade when he won the 2010 Madison - Junior World Track Championships.

The Race Team has always been multi disciplinary and always succeeding at the highest possible level.
