New Specialized Roubaix 2017 Has Arrived
Our first batch of the new cobble gobbling Specialized Roubaix road bikes have arrived at our Warehouse. Today the marketing embargo on the new Roubaix and it’s female counterpart; the Ruby lifted and the cycling press are firing out first ride articles left, right and center. Bike Radar just awarded the bike five stars and cycling tips have a good detailed first ride review which is worth a read.
The stealthy number pictured above is the Specialized Roubaix Expert UDi2 model and has a £3,800 price tag.
We first saw this bike a couple of months ago when it was hidden behind locked doors at Specialized HQ. Obviously the biggest change to Specialized’s best selling road bike is the introduction of rider suspension underneath the steam. The video at the top of this page shows how the new system works. There are three different spring options so the feel of the ride can be tuned depending on rider preference.
The new bikes also feature a revolutionary seat tube clamp positioned underneath the top tube which is designed to allow the carbon seat post to move laterally for improved compliance. What that really means is the seat post can move back and forth slightly to absorb bumps in the road and make the ride more comfortable over bumpier road surfaces.
The other new feature won’t necessarily make you go any faster, but might make you more organised. Notice the SWAT box behind the front chainset. This is a handy box designed to store cash, inner tube, multi-tool and Co2 canisters. Personally I like keeping stuff in my rear jersey pockets, but I have to admit there are times when you need that extra bit of storage.
