Wessex League Round 5 – Fairthorne Manor, Hampshire
With an impressive turn out, The Senior field was about 50 riders strong.
As the race started Matt Macdonald and Andy Hargroves soon pulled out a gap on the first lap over the rest of the field.
Andy had a minor mechanical which set him back a few seconds, but he and Macdonald stuck together and increased their distance from the pack
to about 30 seconds at the midway point.
Matt took the lead in the latter half of the race and remained at the head of the pack until the end of the race, taking a much deserved first place. Hot on his heels was Andy, making it a Hargroves one two.
In the Vet 50 Category Malcolm Cross battled his way to an impressive 4th place.

“I felt very good today and the X-Night was handling particularly well on the quick corners
and the technical wood sections. I sensed Andy was reaching the limit so I eased away knowing that he had enough of a gap to get second.
I wanted to get enough of a gap to give a buffer for any mishaps and took the win with an 8 second margin over Andy.”
