National Trophy Round 3 – Durham University Cricket Club
A long trip for most of the team this weekend with more time on the motorway than in the mud!
First rider in action was Vets 50 series leader Steve Davies. No problems for Steve as he once again cruised to victory taking over a minute and a half out of his nearest rival. Steve has totally dominated his category this year and sits well clear at the top of the points table.
A few minutes later it was the Vets 40 race and the turn of Crispin Doyle. This is possibly the toughest category with a field full of ex elite riders. Crispin has been showing great form and once again made it onto the podium in third place.
Resplendent in his series leader’s yellow jersey – Dan Tullet was next up. Dan has had some stern competition this year and 2nd place was once again not far away. No problem for Dan though, he finished 8 seconds clear of his nearest rival in a well controlled victory.
The final race of the day as always was the Elite Mens race. Paul Oldham seems almost unstoppable this year and once again finished clear of his nearest rival by 20 seconds. Steve James was the first man home for Hargroves in fourth place whilst also finishing 2nd in the Under 23s. Hot on his heals was Jody Crawforth with Matt Hargroves having a great ride to finish 12th!
