Southampton National Trophy Rd3 2012
National Trophy Round 3 Southampton
This weekend was our team’s home race in Southampton – Round 3 of the British National Trophy Series. Tom Van Den Bosch finished a brilliant 3rd considering he had raced in the Bpost Trofee on Saturday and drove straight to Southampton that evening arriving very late. Steve James had another incredible weekend winning the Under 23’s and finishing 6th in the race but out sprinting a former Tour of Britain sprint jersey winner. Steve added to his lead in the Under 23 overall series and moved up to 3rd in the senior overall series. Crispin Doyle on his return ride after a broken collarbone finished 21st with Matt Macdonald in 26th and Stu Bowers in 31st.
In the youth race Dan Tulett kept with the norm and took his 3rd straight win in the Under 14 category. Proving again and again why he is National Chmpion and leading the National Trophy Series. Tamina Oliver took a strong 7th in the women’s race after a very good start. Matt Hargroves took 6th in the junior race after an out of character poor start that took real maturity to work his way through the field. Harry Franklin followed very close behind in 7th place. Tom Franklin took a classy 2nd in the U16 youth race and Ben Tulett won the U12 race for the 2nd round in succession.
Ian Field and Tom Van Den Bosch in Belgium

Tom had a similar race but finished and ended up in 29th position. On the Sunday Ian rode in Asper-Gavere, in brutal muddy conditions Ian was having a very good race but 2 torn off derailleur’s ended Ian’s race.
