SRAM Germany – Sneak Preview!

So Harry, our parts and accessories Buyer, has just got back from a fantastic trip to SRAM HQ in Germany..Here’s what he had to say, but be warned he went to look at some seriously top secret stuff which can’t be announced until next week..

“We were lucky enough to be invited to Sram in Schweinfurt Germany to see the new products Sram will be launching on March the 24th. We were one of only three retailers, the other two being Evan’s and Wiggle so a pretty exclusive club. Unfortunately I can’t tell you anything about the products yet but maybe the internet can….. All I can say is they’re incredible, really leading the way in terms of technology, quality and future trends. Exciting stuff to come and coming to a store near you!

What I can say is how amazing Sram’s facility is, they are extremely professional. Schweinfurt is where they engineer and develop all MTB drivetrain products employing hundreds of engineers. Last year they produced over 1,000 prototypes to make sure they’re manufacturing the best product possible, they have dozens of climate control machines running 24hrs a day to test the durability and strength of their products, huge marketing teams based in the same building purely for MTB drivetrain, hundreds of different bike and wheel combinations to ensure their products work on all platforms and so much more.

We spent the majority of the time in presentations learning about the new products which were very interesting and also talking about OEM (bike manufacturer) sales which gave us great insight to what bike brands are backing for 2017.

Why are they based in Schweinfurt Germany? The town itself is home to other well brands such as SKF bearings and Winora (Haibike) so there’s lots of cycling heritage in the town.

I’ll send you some more information on the 24th of March, but for now, I’ll leave you with a cringey photo of my face”

Watch this space for a massive announcement regarding an exciting new product launch from SRAM.
