Weekend Round Up
This weekend was the World Cup in Koksijde for Ian Field, after a bad start Ian progressed though the field to 24th place a
great result on a course that is very difficult to overtake on. Ian’s next race is back on home turf at the world cup in Milton Keynes!
Earlier in the day Harry Yates had an incredible ride in the youth race claiming 6th position!
“With conditions drier than normal the koksijde sand was even tougher than normal.
A slipped pedal from Sven nys of all people left me down in 40th through the first pit.
I battled hard throughout and was helped by having a big British backing if support and good legs to work my way through to a 24th place finish salvaging a
respectable world cup result. This leaves me 24th overall in the world cup series ending in my home round of MK next weekend!” – Ian Field

Elsewhere both Andy Hargroves and Steve James were on winning form in the Wessex and Welsh Leagues respectively. Andy took the race on from the start and never looked back leading the race from start to finish by just under a minute in slippery difficult conditions. Steve won in similar style taking the sandy course on solo from lap won and holding on until the end as he continues a build in form towards next week’s World Cup.
Crispin Doyle won the vets race in the Wessex league in a last lap attack winning the race by a slender 3 seconds on a rain soaked course conditions decreased throughout the race. Steve Davies also won the Vet50 race. Ruby miller finished a close 2nd in the women’s race at the welsh league race, Ruby certainly seems to be enjoying her return to cyclo cross this season!
