World Cup Cyclo-cross – Round 2 – Valkenberg
Last weekend Ian Field, Nick Barnes and Harry Yates went to Valkenberg for RD2 of the World Cup. In muddy and difficult conditions Harry started off the day in 39th place, this was Harry’s first world cup and he certainly started out with a solid performance.
Next up was Nick Barnes on a worsening course, he finished with a strong 30th. Although disappointed with the result it is certainly showing good progression from Nick in his first season with the team.
In the final race was Ian Field who after the disappointment of Las Vegas was looking to improve on a course that he has always ridden well on. Being muddy the course was a different beast to previous years, Ian came home in 27th place having got caught up in a lot of bottlenecks and spent the whole race chasing. The next world cup is in the sand of Koksijde.
Elsewhere Steve Davies took the win in the Wessex league continuing his dominance of the series. Steve James took 2nd in the elite race in the welsh league as did Ruby Miller in the Elite women’s race. Tom Van Den Bosch took 7th in a Belgian B cross in Zingem on Sunday having finished 17th the previous day.
Next up this weekend is Round 2 of the British national trophy series in Derby.
See you there!
