When you were a kid, it’s likely your bike was crucial to your life. You would casually let it fall outside your house, outside your friend’s house, the park, the sweet shop. It was your freedom. You could avoid the traffic, go down the little alleys. You still can! Cannondale want to remind you how easy it is, how useful it is and how much fun you’ll have.
Cannondale make premium bikes. For racing, for joy riding, for mountains, for fun. Now they’ve launched a range of urban bikes. The Treadwell is a great ride. It’s comfortable enough to keep going for miles, capable enough to handle all manner of terrain. It has a retro/dirt bike look about it, with a wide handlebar and big fat tyres.
Not just a looker, the design screams comfort. A plush, padded seat and a frame shape that suggests you sit up and take in the view. It has a lightweight aluminium alloy frame, easy to carry up the stairs should you need to. It might not be a racing bike but it’s fast enough and perfect for local journeys when you might usually jump in the car.
You would have loved this when you were a kid: the Treadwell has a sensor built into the front wheel hub. Introduce it to your phone and it will record every journey. It will tell you the distance travelled, how fast you go and how many calories you’ve burned. And if that doesn’t convince you, you can find out how many grams of carbon emissions you’ve saved by not taking the car.
They’ve thought of everything – a silicone strip runs along the top tube, protecting your aluminium frame when you lean it outside the sweet shop.
